Bathroom Part 7: Mirror and final touches
Once the big pieces were done - tub, shower, toilet, vanity, baseboards, light, and window- all that was left were final touches. Okay, except for one thing: a vanity mirror.
After taking the big plate mirror off the wall, I needed a replacement vanity mirror. Basically all I knew was I wanted a black frame - and wanted the frame to be thin. I looked and looked, and eventually settled on a target mirror that is actually intended to go on a mantel - it's got a lovely arched top. It's heavy enough to be substantial - but not so heavy that I worry about stability. I'm just delighted with it.
Slowly I added new touches - my mom brought a cool metal medicine cabinet from MN.
I added towel racks - two of them! And little black 'hooks'. And a framed photo my aunt took and sent me (Thanks Aunt Jessica!) of a farm with grazing sheep and the most glorious sky!
I pulled in my favorite grey IKEA bathmats that I've had forever, and I stitched together two IKEA rag rugs to cover up the mis-matched tile underneath the vanity - but also just to provide a softer place to stand. Maybe eventually I'll figure out a rug situation that runs the length, but for the moment, I'm very happy with my two rug situation.
I'll do a final before and after - but I am so delighted with my bathroom!
